Libro Prima edizione Copia autografata
Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Near Fine. 1st Edition. A unique copy of the First Edition of the memoir of Clarence Kelley, the second director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This copy is inscribed by Kelley to the fourth director of the FBI -- William Sessions. The lengthy inscription was written after Sessions nomination to the post by President Ronald Reagan in 1987, but before Sessions' confirmation by the U.S. Senate . Kelley served a 20-year stint as a FBI agent from 1940-1961 before retiring from the agency to return to his native Missouri and serve as Kansas City police chief. In 1973, President Richard Nixon drew Kelley back to the Bureau to fill some very big wingtips. He was nominated as the successor to the Bureau's founding director, J. Edgar Hoover. Sessions was a Federal District Court Judge in Texas when he was selected for the post. Clarence Kelley's inscription is on the front endpaper. It reads: "To Judge William Sessions with warm regards. I look forward to being with you soon and hope you enjoy this account of some of my experiences. You will also enjoy your new career. Be healthy and be careful, We need you - Clarence Kelley." The book also includes a letter to Sessions from a Missouri who appears to have been a mutual friend of Session and Kelley and who had arranged for Kelley to inscribe the book before it was sent to Sessions. 326 pages, illustrated. Has a bit of foxing on the page edges and light edge wear on the dust jacket. Otherwise, minimal sign of previous use. Signed by Author(s).
