Dr Philip Nitschke MBBS PhD came to prominence in 1996 when he became the first doctor to administer a legal, lethal, voluntary injection to four terminally ill patients under Australia's Rights of the Terminally Ill Act. An Australian by birth, he is the Founder and Director of the non-profit organisation, Exit International, which has offices in Australia, the US & Europe. Philip holds a PhD is applied physics from Flinders University in Adelaide & is a graduate of Sydney Medical School. Dr Nitschke is the recipient of many awards for his humanitarian work & is an eight-time nominee for Australian of the Year. Philip is the author of three other books, the online Peaceful Pill eHandbook, Killing Me Softly: Voluntary Euthanasia and the Road to the Peaceful Pill (Penguin, 2005) & his autobiography Damned If I Do (with Peter Corris) which was published by Melbourne University Press in 2013.
