Großartiger, umfangreicher Band über das Leben von Will McBride Auch wenn der erste Teil des Buches wie ein Tagebuch mit vergilbten Fotos aus der Kindheit des Fotografen und Bildhauers anmutet, die Texte dieser umfangreichen Autobiografie sind äußerst lesenswert. Und dank des interessanten Layouts und der ausgeklügelten Typografie fällt man auch immer wieder in Textpassagen und liest dann vor und zurück. Aber natürlich ist dieses Buch in erster Linie ein Fotobuch, daneben in erster Linie eine Streitschrift für einen liberaleren, unverkrampfteren Umgang mit Sexualität und Schönheit (ja, Will McBride liebt auch schöne männliche Jugendliche und hat diese immer wieder fotografiert). Und es ist ein Buch für alle, die unseren heutigen verkrampften Umgang mit der Sexualität von Jugendlichen (zwischen Kriminalisierung, Tabuisierung und Verurteilung bis zu Hasstiraden) zumindest in Frage stellen. Die Pornografie überschüttet uns auf der einen Seite mit abenteuerlichen Details zu jedem vorstellbaren Fetisch (natürlich sind die Objekte dieser Schaulust alle über 18), zum großen Teil unappetitlich und fast immer entwürdigend, während der liebevolle Blick auf die natürliche Schönheit von Nacktheit (wie z.B. in McBrides Zeig Mal) möglichst verboten werden soll. Scheinbar hat man in der Pornografie bereits das Handtuch geworfen (sprich: aufgegeben) und akzeptiert dieses menschenverachtende Megageschäft, während sich die Puritaner mit Lust auf jene verletzlichen Zeitgenossen stürzen, die uns ein noch normales Abbild der Wirklichkeit bieten. Dass das genau verkehrt herum ist, fällt scheinbar niemandem auf.
