Begun in 1995, this project, co-sponsored by The Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, was carried out in trips through more than forty prisons in various European countries. It presents persons among persons, who by showing themselves in public manage metaphorically to regain a slice of freedom, to cancel at least some of the barriers, masks, and labels that separate them from the outside world.

Luigi Gariglio was born in Turin in 1969. Among the best photographer in Europe, Gariglio has been awarded by relevant photographic institutions around the world. His works have been exhibited both in collective and personal shows, and are part of the permanent collections of many museums, such as the Stadelijk Museum, in Amsterdam.
