FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 8.75 x 5.75 inches. 87 + [1] pp. + 4 blank leaves. Bound in original purple cloth, gilt. Some foxing of flyleaves and edges, but otherwise a very good copy. 1935 signature of J. Romilly Roget on first free endpaper. The first complete edition of T. S. Eliot's famous play on the murder of Archbishop Thomas Becket in 1170. It was written for the Canterbury Festival of 1935 and previously printed in abbreviated form for sale at the first performances of the play in the Chapter House of Canterbury Cathedral.
