The Casquets are a group of rocks located in the English Channel, off the northwest coast of Alderney, which is one of the Channel Islands. These rocks are known for their rugged and treacherous nature, posing a significant navigational hazard to ships in the area. The Casquets Lighthouse, also known as the Alderney Lighthouse, stands on the largest of these rocks. It was constructed in the mid-1800s and serves as a crucial aid to navigation, helping ships steer clear of the hazardous rocks. The lighthouse is an iconic landmark in the region and an important part of Alderney's maritime history. This vintage bookplate print was executed by the Edwardian artist Henry Bowser Wimbush. Born in London, England ( March 11, 1858, May 5, 1943) an English landscape painter, book illustrator and postcard artist. The image measures approximately 3 1/2 X 5 1/2 inches, with an overall page size of 5 1/4 X 8 inches. The print is in very good condition, boasting vivid and clean colors, displaying a pleasing depth and tonal range. It is unmarked on the reverse, printed on high-quality glossy paper, and would undoubtedly be a stunning addition when appropriately framed.
