Un Libro Illeggibile Quadrato, Bruno Munari, pub by Steendrukkerij de Jong, (Lithographic and Offset printers) Hilversum 1953. The Illegible Quadrat print was designed and developed by Bruno Munari. The types of paper are: M.F. mechanical cover paper; Bluish grey marbled, red slightly mechanical cover paper and matt better offset paper. The publication details describe the work as 'a series of experiments in printing, ranging over the fields of graphic design, the plastic arts, literature, architecture and music.they are not for sale. They are presented to clients of Steendrukkerij de Jong & Co. as gifts.' Issued in limited editions of two thousand copies. Text on separate sheets folded into cover at rear. 'But what are these "unreadable" books? They are books without words, books with pages cut in different manners, with pages of coloured paper. A book like this is folded in this wrapper - by turning over the pages you can compose and discompose many geometric patterns and, if you like you can put some of them under glass and later change it again.' - From the English text of the book. Bruno Munari [1907-1998] was born in Milan and worked across many fields including graphic design and children's book illustration as well as industrial and product design. Attracted by Marinetti's Futurist movement, he eventually disassociated himself from it due to its connections to Fascism. Un Libro Illeggibile Quadrato is the fruit of a collaboration with the Dutch printing company, De Jong. The book is in bright and clean condition with no blemish or inscription. Codice articolo 603
