Contemporary half vellum and patterned paper, gilt title over morocco label to spine. Very fresh and clean throughout. Excellent copy. First and only edition of this great classic by Count Cicognara in a special limited deluxe issue. The work is dedicated to the study of nielli (metal jewels carved by using a black compound of sulphur and silver, lead, or copper), of which the Count had an important collection, and to playing cards and lithography. The appendix is dedicated to illustrating the goldsmith's art. The plates show works belonging to private collections: Visconti, Durazzo, Trivulzio and Cicognara. Codice articolo ABE-1651411758391
