First edition. Blue cloth with gilt title and battleship stamped in gilt on front board. 8vo. Tight copy. History of ironclads and metal-hulled ships, mainly of the US Navy, up to the time of the Spanish-American War. Ex-library; white shelf stamping at the base of the spine has been removed, leaving a not very conspicuous rubbed patch where it was, and there is a paper shelf tag at the top of the spine. Bookplate of the Chocorua Public Library on front pastedown, with the same number entered (1437) as on the spine. Parenthetically, does this bookplate not tell an inspiring story in itself? How wonderful that a little hamlet in New Hampshire should have a public library with upwards of a thousand volumes at that time. Codice articolo 5084
