Questo lavoro prefigge ancora una volta gli obiettivi storico-culturali della nostra struttura, riprende e sintetizza con cura le più famose battaglie della Linea Gotica. La trasposizione di queste in mappe accurate, arricchite dalle meticolose spiegazioni dei movimenti di circa 300.000 soldati tedeschi e 900.000 alleati, le fanno rivivere con inusuale realismo ricordandoci, se per altri ce ne fosse ancora bisogno, che esse furono anche anticipatrici della distruzione quasi totale della nostra città. è curioso notare che proprio oggi dove sorge il Museo dell'Aviazione (e più in generale nella porzione di territorio fra Rimini e San Marino) si svolsero combattimenti terrestri definiti fra i più cruenti del 1944. Questi combattimenti, se occorre ricordarlo, sono enormemente noti anche per il fatto che causarono enormi perdite tra la popolazione civile. Ne è testimone il fatto che quando iniziammo i lavori per la costruzione di un Museo dell'Aviazione, trovammo un'infinità di schegge e proiettili di differente calibro che testimoniavano quei tragici avvenimenti della Seconda guerra mondiale.
