Basische Farbstoffe zeichnen sich im allgemeinen durch lebhafte Farbtöne aus, besitzen aber nur eine geringe Lichtechtheit. Sie werden als Selbstfarbstoffe und auch zum Übersetzen von Färbungen anderer Farbstoffklassen verwendet, um deren Lebhaftigkeit zu erhöhen. Die in dieser Musterkarte veranschaulichten Farbstoffe wurden in 2 Farbtiefen auf tanniertem Baumwollgarn ausgefärbt.
