The first document we wish to refer to is the so-called "testament of Hattusili I" (CTH 6)2; we shall not dwell here on the numerous historical and philological-linguistical problems arising from the text and widely debated among scholars. We would prefer instead to concentrate now on the episode of the rebellion against Hattusili by his son Huzziya and his daughter (§ 12-13 II 63-74); and, more specifically, on the precise location of this episode in the text. We would expect, in fact, to find tire description of these facts in the previous §§ 1-6, where the events preceding and motivating Mursili's appointment as heir to the throne are presented, in other words, where reference is made to the deplorable behaviour of the previously appointed heir, Labama, towards the king. C. containing Luvianisms or Luvian loanwords seemed to be of particular interest. For a number of reasons which it would take too long to go into here, the hypothesis was put forward that in both cases these were fragments of bilingual texts. Unfortunately, the fact that they are fragmentary has made comprehension of them difficult; nonetheless, for one of them, some proposals for interpretation have been offered, which will be discussed in the course of this essay. For the transliteration of the two texts, see E. Laroche and F. Alp in an interesting article. I add here some further observations, which I wish to dedicate to the memory of the illustrious scholar E. Bilgiç.
