No marks other than foxing on endpapers and title page. Light wear on cover. Binding is sound, tight and square. . . . . . . . If you want a different perspective of armor battles of WW2 (different than those written by Allied personnel), this book is for you. The book is a compendium of German battle field accounts by those who actually were engaged in battle. The narratives are generally from German armor (SS Panzer) commanders and range from detailed accounts on the Russian front post Stalingrad to the Normandy invasion, Battle of the Bulge, and final defense of Berlin. There is a good German account of Michael Wittmann's last fight with an eye witness (French) who contradicts the now "official" version of his demise. However, the account of Wittmann's famous foray in Villers-Bocage is a little thin. His actions on the Eastern front are also documented. You'll find the book very well written with details that will keep you very engaged in your reading. There is absolutely no propaganda of any sort. Just the raw facts and emotions of those who experienced battle first hand as it was felt by those on the receiving end of Russian and Allied armor. Highly recommended. -- walshrd. This kind of evidence is hardly achieved by other documents for in 1/100 sec. the photographer captures the event for all times. Particularly photographic documents are bringing back an epoch to those who personally experienced it and are making it real for following generations. It may be a challenge as well as a confirmation Events should be recalled to mind otherwise they can fall into oblivion. In particular younger generations react more readily to pictures (illustrations) than to text. Certainly manipulation of photographs is possible but that is not the case with those published in this book, as they show mercilessly the reality. It is important to look upon pictures only in relation to history to interpret them correctly. It is essential to have war pictures, showing battles where the divisions were involved, explained by experts who on their part were involved in the actions and who as well have a clear view of the events as they use reliable measures so one can talk of it as scientifically handled. Our book of photographs should be considered in this way as it is completed with documents and maps. It is worth mentioning that photographs taken in those days by German war correspondents suffer from the lack of technical perfection. Film material as well as developer were of low standards and cannot be compared with those from nowadays. Nevertheless we believe it to be necessary to present these unique documents to the general public.
