Prima edizione della biografia di riferimento di Pietro De' Rossi di Santarosa, cugino di Santorre, nato a Savigliano nel 1805, morto nel 1850 a Torino. Il Santarosa fu Decurione di Torino e, nel 1848, propose una petizione a Carlo Alberto per una costituzione rappresentativa che fu tra le fonti dello Statuto Albertino, ricoprendo in seguito la carica di Ministro dell'Agricoltura e del Commercio in vari governi. Fra i fondatori del Risorgimento, scrisse ancora versi, tragedie e una Storia del tumulto dei Ciompi edita nel 1843. Per la sua partecipazione alle leggi Siccardi, relative all'abrogazione del foro ecclesiastico e dei privilegi ecclesiastici, gli furono negate in un primo momento le esequie religiose dal parroco di San Carlo, il servita Pittavino, prima che l'arcivescovo cittadino, Franzoni, si decidesse a concedergliele per via della montante protesta popolare.
