Igor Emmanuilovich Grabar (1871-1960), a member of an affluent Rusyn lineage, was a Russian post-impressionist artist, publisher, art restorer, and art historian. He received his artistic education from Ilya Repin in Saint Petersburg and later studied under Anton Abe in Munich. A fair copy with light signs of wear.

His comprehensive artistic training encompassed periods of study in Paris, Moscow, and St. Petersburg, significantly shaping his growth as a highly accomplished artist. The catalog is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ilya Efimovich Repin, 1844-1944. Ilya Yefimovich Repin (1844 1930) was a Russian painter of Ukrainian origin, acclaimed as one of the foremost artists of 19th-century Russia. His notable creations encompass iconic works like "Barge Haulers on the Volga" (1873), "Religious Procession in Kursk Province" (18801883), "Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan" (1885), and "Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks" (18801891). Additionally, he gained recognition for his revealing portraits, capturing the essence of prominent figures in Russian literature and the arts during his era. Among these luminaries were Mikhail Glinka, Modest Mussorgsky, Pavel Tretyakov, and, notably, Leo Tolstoy, with whom he maintained an enduring friendship.
