The sheet of rag paper, 28.6 cm x 18.5 cm. Two pinholes along the upper margin. Slight soiling and light browning in places. Some curling to the top edge. Written on the verso in pencil, in a circle, 'T5' or 'TS', and '165'. An excellent impression. Massar (1998) states that the inscription states it is based on a drawing by Giovanni da San Giovanni (also known as Giovanni Mannozzi) in Niccolo Gabburi's collection. However, she also writes that no such drawing has been found. Francesco Zuccarelli (1702-1788) was an Italian painter known for his Arcadian landscapes. His early period of etching in Florence was relatively brief, spanning the years 1728 to 1731. He produced 43 prints, mostly after the frescoes of Andrea del Sarto and Giovanni da San Giovanni.

The Italian and British painter Francesco Zuccarelli (Pitigliano 1702-Florence 1788), worked in Rome, settled 1732 in Venice where he became famous as one of the most desired landscape painters of the 18th century; from 1752-1773 he lived in England, where he was one of the founding members of the Royal Academy in London; 1773 he settled in Florence. The Italian printmaker Fabio Berardi (Burradi), moved to Venice c. 1742. - Sharp impression on watermarked laid paper. Small margins, right lower blank corner nearly cut to plate-mark, just touching word 'Scul'. On verso handwritten annotation: '1832 18. Dec. .'. [(5857)].
