Eisenman designed and built at least two modernist structures in NW Connecticut when he was at Yale and would frequent McCabe's bookstore located in the small town of Salisbury there. Inscribed on the title page: "11 Apr 83 FOR MIKE FROM: PETER for my favorite bookstore anywhere! Peter Eisenman" Laid-in are pull sheets from Progressive Architecture June 1977 which has a pictorial review of one of the House VI which Eisenman built in Cornwall CT, just southeast of Salisbury. Peter Eisenman a member of the New York Five (also known as the Whites, as opposed to the Grays of Yale: Robert A.M. Stern, Charles Moore, etc.), five architects (Eisenman, Charles Gwathmey, John Hejduk, Richard Meier, and Michael Graves) some of whose work was presented at a CASE Studies conference in 1969. Eisenman received a number of grants from the Graham Foundation for work done in this period. These architects' work at the time was often considered a reworking of the ideas of Le Corbusier.
