Rear hinges show spliting but firm, likely with some repair; 3/4 " split at lower hinge of title page, still very firm. Minor wear to spine ends with light streak of soil volume two. ; 319 & 410 pp. , portrait frontis; index; pub. Ads; green cloth lettered in gilt. Both volumes from the private library of M. W. & K. L. Sherwood, 7027 Ridge Blvd. , Chicago, with their pocket and index card on rear pastedowns. One entry on index card volume one for lending to Miss I. Evans. Tipped into volume two on front endpaper is a folded holograph note by John Monroe Dana, extolling the virtues of Amiel. Dana wrote The Wider Search for Truth, first published in 1899. Short gift inscription on front endpapers to presumably the first owner of the volumes, Katherine Louise (Ramsey? ) ; 24mo 5" - 6" tall. Codice articolo 11346
