A near fine copy (with a contemporary gift inscription to the front free end-paper but with just the lightest of foxing to the page block) in an exceptionally well-preserved near fine (or slightly better) dustwrapper with excellent colouration to the spine (just the merest hint of spine fade hardly worth mentioning) and with NO tears, wear, creases or pieces missing. Lampedusa's only novel ('Il Gattopardo') and its first appearance in English. Superb wrap-around D/W artwork by Hans Tisdall. The basis for the 1963 Italian epic period drama directed by Luchino Visconti and starring Burt Lancaster, Alain Delon, Claudia Cardinale and Paolo Stoppa.
