On this basis, the Kantian transcendental philosophy is interpreted as an answer to the structural problem of the Scholastic transcendental philosophy: the necessity and impossibility of a prepredicative plane.Noti studi di Giorgio Tonelli e Norbert Hinske avevano evidenziato come, da un punto di vista di storia delle fonti, l'uso kantiano del termine «trascendentale» non possa essere chiarito se non ricorrendo ad autori dell'aristotelismo tedesco di impronta scolastica. Grazie al recente ritrovamento degli Ordini degli studi settecenteschi dell'Università di Königsberg, l'Autore può individuare un «anello di congiunzione» tra Kant e l'aristotelismo tedesco nella philosophia transcendentalis di Franz Albert Aepinus. Su tali basi, e seguendo altresì le questioni dell'analogia, del rapporto tra analitica e dialettica, del metodo delle dispute, e dei termini primi, l'Autore mette in evidenza ulteriori elementi di continuità tra pensiero critico e aristotelismo tedesco, e in particolare una vicinanza con i pensatori della cosiddetta «ortodossia luterana». L'insieme di questi elementi permette infine anche una proposta interpretativa, secondo cui nel transcendentale scolastico e in quello critico, prima di ogni presunta differenza tra «ontologia» e «teoria della conoscenza», andrebbe rinvenuto un problema analogo, che percorre la storia dell'idea sin dalle sue origini nel XII e XIII secolo, e che tuttavia in Kant emerge con particolare radicalità e viene impostato su nuove e più efficaci basi: la questione della paradossale necessità e impossibilità di pensare un ambito antepredicativo.
